A Heat Pump looks just like an air conditioner. That’s because it works just like an air conditioner. A heat pump is simply a system that can heat or cool your home by moving heat from one location to another. In the summer, that’s exactly what it does. It takes the heat from inside your home and moves it to the outside, leaving you with a cooler home.
Unlike an Air Conditioner, however, a heat pump can also run in reverse, allowing it to move heat from the outdoors to the indoors. Traditional heating systems need to create heat by burning fuel or using electricity, but heat pumps can transfer the heat using only a vary small amount of energy. In fact, heat pumps can transfer up to 4 times the amount of energy that they consume. This makes them an extremely cost-effective way to heat your home.
