Why Upgrade your Water Heater?

Water Heaters become unreliable long before they fail.  Of course, you want to replace it before it bursts and floods the floor, but there are many reasons to replace or upgrade it early too.  A new water heater can give up to twice as much hot water than your old one just from the extra scale-free space alone.  An upgrade to a tankless on-demand water heater can also give you additional benefits such as lower utility bills, longer equipment lifespans, unlimited hot water, and precise water temperature control.

WATER HEATER TYPES

Tanked Water Heaters

This basic type of water heater typically has a 40 or 50-gallon tank of water that it keeps hot year-round to provide you with hot water when you need it. They are inexpensive upfront but it costs quite a bit of money to keep 50 gallons of water hot and ready when you aren’t using it. These tanks are also prone to scale buildup which lowers the capacity of deliverable hot water and they have somewhat shorter usable lifespans.  This is the base option that is commonly installed in entry-level homes. Tankless Water Heaters

Tankless models do not store water to use. They are so powerful that they can heat the water as it flows through the machine. This means that not only do you not have to keep a large supply of water hot and ready, but also that it is impossible to ever run out of hot water. The units can be easily cleaned and serviced which gives them a much longer usable lifespan as well. The lower utility bills will more than pay for the cleanings. These units tend to be a little more money upfront than a tanked water heater. They are commonly installed when people replace their tanked water heater or have built a custom or quality home. Recirculating

Some models of the tankless water heaters come with a built-in re-circulation pump.  This pump will come on from time to time to circulate and warm up the water in your water lines. This helps prevent line freezing and also lowers the amount of time you have to wait for hot water. Keep in mind that you will need a dedicated recirculation line in your plumbing to take full advantage of a recirculating water heating model. Learn more.
